last wkend, saw an entire section at superT dedicated to “limited edition” prods: special minty this & choc-coated that (news of which will be coming to a blog-near-you later this wk - hopefully w/ the same silly foto treatment). part of the explosion can be attributed to the holiday, but it still reinforced how huge ltd-eds have become. ltd-editioning has even hit yogurt: specifically Lucerne’s seasonal limited-edition yogurts w/ half-a-doz flavors incl pumpkin, cranberry-orange, gingerbread, chai latte, caramel apple, and one-other-flavor-that-didn’t-appeal-to-me-so-i’ve-forgotten-what-it-is-&-can’t-find-it-on-the-internet. so far, have only tried cranberry, which was good; wish i’d known B4 buying that the blue containers = “lite” = evil splenda
*these just arrived at my local store, but hawaii had ‘em first

Despite oodles of new items to post, today’s theme is follow-up:
Frappio One 15-oz can of this new coffee-energy drink from 7-11 was consumed on Fri Apr 7 at 7 pm. (alertness was being sought for a work assignment.) Oh alertness was found; 12 hrs later, the teeth-grinding still hadn’t stopped. That stuff is scary. Admittedly, the can says “two servings”; but isn’t it stupid to put two servings in a flip-top can? It’s not the caffeine; I think the nuclear ingredient is the Indian ginseng.
Dannon Activia yogurt Have sampled this stuff twice: stomach-churning experiences both times. Has anyone else tried it? Would love comments and-or emails.

‘member when frozen yogurt used to be a thing, when there wuz a froz-yog stand on every corner? For various reasons, it’s sort of over, but there are still hangers-on. Gooey’s is a 2-store chain in Dallas that picked up where I Can’t Believe It’s Yogurt left off. (In fact, they used to once be ICBY stores.) There’ll always be lactose-intolerant types out there who appreciate a place like Gooey’s, where the product’s 98% lactose free and where they also sell cakes, cookies, & other sweets. It’s all soft-serve, they have a total of about 18 flavors, and they change flavors every 3 wks.

In s’markets now: Dannon Activia yogurt. yogurt, SFW – but this one is pro-biotic, which means it contains special bacteria that can “help regulate the digestive system if eaten daily for 2 wks”. (FYI “regulate” = code for “constipation”.) Pro-biotics are bugs – bacteria or yeast. activia’s bacteria are designed to survive all the way into yr intestine so they can duke it out w/ evil bacteria who want to ahem slow things down. One serving of activia = 1 billion+ bacteria. That’s some battle going on in yr intestine. Yogurt can sposedly stimulate immune system, reduce antibiotic-associated diarrhea, prevent vaginal yeast infections, & lower cholesterol. activia commercials’ll start airing in Feb, wherein women will talk about their irregularity problems, so there’s something to look forward to. and of course it’s women, not men. six flavors: vanilla, strawberry, blueberry, peach, prune, & mixed berry
WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM ANYONE WHO HAS TRIED OR IS EVEN CONSIDERING TRYING THIS YOGURT (like, what appeals to you about it, etc.) - email tgubbins@verizon.net. thanks!
*no links, easing back into it. thx to clairevoyant for product pic! and emmjay for props!

This is what you’d call a throwaway (note impromptu staging of photo), but it’s the day B4 the holiday & we got, yknow, shit to do. A marginally-interesting seasonal pumpkin product thus seems just the ticket. NYCE has previously explored the way every food category seems to be getting its pumpkin on but yogurt’s a new one, specifically Lucerne pumpkin-pie flavored yogurt. It wasn’t bad, really; a little mouth-puckeringly strange but in a way that made you want to finish it. But the lame thing izzat the ingreds are nothing more than yogurt w/ pumpkin-pie filling stirred in. i mean jeez how simple can you get
